Paper or Plastik Cafe Coffee Shop

Los Angeles, CA

1500 SF

This project is a conversion of an old electronics warehouse into a unique café and neighborhood shop in the Mid-Wilshire district of Los Angeles. An open steel and wood stair is the leads to a new mezzanine that overlooks the adjacent dance studio and provides access to Anyasha’s Design and Gift Shop. The café is open with an exposed wood ceiling, bow string trusses, concrete floor, and floating steel panels. The main floor of the café accommodates seating for 50 and includes a small prep kitchen and retail area. Creating the warm, industrial, atmosphere in the new café was in collaboration with the owners, designers Anya and Yasha Michelson.
