On a heavily wooded ten acre site, we expanded and renovated a sixties ranch house to become a “house in the trees,” extending the footprint into the forest, blurring the boundaries of house and nature. The exposed wood beams and knotty pine ceiling reflect a refined version of the trees beyond. The stacked stone fireplace hearth extends from the living room to the outside patio where it first is a wall then bench seating. The floor to ceiling glass façade allows expansive views to the woods beyond, allowing the owners to enjoy seasonal changes throughout the year.Photography by Paul Bednarski
