This addition to a 1929 home in Oak Park, Illinois' Frank Lloyd Wright Historic District was an opportunity to bring fresh architectural solutions to the home of the O'Shea-Sturtevant family. A more traditional approach was required for the one-story kitchen addition visible from Grove Avenue, where we used stucco to match the existing home. For the rear addition, which includes a family room and master suite, we took a modern approach using large expanses
of glass and redwood siding. Each addition includes a deck with views of the family’s much-loved maple tree.
