On a heavily wooded ten acre site, we expanded and renovated a sixties ranch house to become a modernist tree house, one that horizontally extends into the forest blurring the boundaries of “house” and “nature”. The exposed wood glue lam beams and tongue and groove knotty pine ceiling supporting the roof extend through the windows to the trees beyond.

The exterior stone stacked limestone fireplace hearth extends into the living room where it becomes a wall and bench seating. The light filled interior allows expansive views to the woods outside where the owners can witness the seasonal changes throughout the year.
