Rosti, an established Tuscan restaurant with two locations, moved to a new commercial mixed-use building in Encino and hired Scrafano Architects to shape the empty space into a modern Tuscan Rosticceria. The restaurant is popular for both eat-in and take-out, so the space was designed with both types of customers in mind. To differentiate the take-out/retail space, lighter maple wood was used for the counters, giving it the feel of a new market stand.
For the dining spaces, we chose architectural details such as arches to divide the seating areas and dark, hand-scraped wood floors and ceiling beams. The arches also reference the building’s exterior arches, providing a sense of having been there all along.
