This gourmet grocery store and deli occupies an industrial loft space in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago. Thoughtfully placed lighting and careful space planning converted what once was a dark, narrow warehouse into a bright, hip neighborhood store that offers everything from olives by the pound to designer barbeque sauces.
The concrete floors and the 12-foot-high exposed wood ceiling hint at the space’s history as a warehouse. The checkout area, whose surface is made to look like a bright butcher block countertop, is consistent with the gourmet feel of the store.
