Scrafano Architects was hired to give this nondescript 60,000 square foot factory in the City of Commerce a new street presence while also brightening and modernizing its interior. The exterior was transformed by unifying the existing varied additions and roof lines. A new entry sequence was developed to help clarify the business' public face to the street. New energy-efficient glazing replaced the original single pane glass.
Inside, the 11,000 square foot front office was made brighter with the addition of clerestory windows, while walls were removed to create an open workspace for the sales team in an effort to improve communication and efficiency. Custom desks were designed to strengthen work teams, and new interior windows were added to visually connect the sales team to the 48,000 square foot production floor.
