This
new vacation home is located on Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands.
The design is an open “Balinese style” that lends itself to the
casual island atmosphere while focusing on the ocean views and allowing for
cross-ventilation. The center of the house is a large open area that includes
the kitchen, living and dining rooms with all views oriented toward the large
stone patio and pool overlooking sunsets and the bay.
The two guest suites are separate
living quarters that are offset in a checkerboard pattern to increase their
views while preserving their privacy. All rooms are situated under a
stained wood rafter ceiling. Floors are polished concrete, while cabinets,
doors and windows are stained dark wood contrasting light plaster walls.
