Crain’sCrain's Chicago Business, 'Fashion Designer Pinto to Open Boutique' by Monee Fields White
'Chicago fashion designer Maria Pinto is heading from the runway to retail. Ms. Pinto, whose clothes have been donned by media queen Oprah Winfrey, is opening her first boutique in June in the West Loop. The Chicago native already has a design workshop in the city and a showroom in New York. She says the 2100 square-foot store at 135 N. Jefferson St., will be an natural extension of her atelier. The new store, being designed by Chicago-based architect Elissa Scrafano and interior designer Scott Heuvelhorst, debuts during a time of uncertainty for retailers.'
